There are just too many issues for me with mainstream media, one of the biggest being that what they say and display is ultimately not the whole truth anymore. Even though there is a scrutinizing screening process for what eventually will be published, all the articles still have to satisfy the wants of the big guy! And what does the big guy want? Money, cashola, moolah, benjamins, and on and on. I'll just drop this video here to help corroborate my comment on the manipulation of mainstream media.
BUT DON'T WORRY PEOPLE!
Work with me here.
The internet is there to save us. Through its easy accessibility, and growing popularity, more and more people are able to voice their opinions. This is the point where blogs come into the picture.
A lot of people are worried that the all bloggers are ignorant morons, who should not be allowed to voice their opinions about any serious topic. That may be very true, but the fact that anyone can voice his or her opinion means that somewhere out there, in the vortex that is the internet, someone will come up with an actual valid point that would have been lost through layers and layers of editing. Furthermore, because mainstream-media requires qualified individuals, some people, who can provide valid and thought-provoking opinions, cannot actually do that. Something on their resume prevents them from getting that job and so they resort to blogging, which is a great alternative. Because you can post about anything you want really and not worry about having your opinion screened out in the editing process.
Jack Black correctly voices my own opinion on the subject. Just pretend that rock'n'roll were the 'truth' (the news) and MTV was like CNN, FOX News, etc.
